The Fairtrade Mark

The Fairtrade Foundation is an independent body that awards the Fairtrade Mark to products that meet international Fairtrade standards.

The Fairtrade Mark guarantees:

  • Farmers organisation's receive a fair and stable price for their products
  • Extra income, via the Fairtrade Premium, for farmers and plantation workers to improve their lives and the lives of all people within their communities
  • Greater respect for the environment
  • Small farmers a stronger position in world markets
  • A closer link between consumers and producers

Choosing Fairtrade

Choosing to buy fairly traded goods means a fair and stable price for the producer and guaranteed quality for the consumer.

Look out for the Fairtrade Mark on products when you go shopping. New products are always being introduced. If you can't find what you want, tell your shop manager and ask that it is stocked. The more people that request fairtrade, the more chance fairtrade options are made available. If you can't buy local, buy Fairtrade.
