About The Group
Fairtrade in Redbridge
Fairtrade Redbridge is a local group that was formed to promote Fairtrade in Redbridge by encouraging people to buy Fairtrade products; shops and restaurants to stock products, and organisations to use Fairtrade products.
How did it all start?
Sept 2003: A residents' petition submitted to the Council
Nov 2004: the Council adopted the Resolution to: "recognise the work of the Fair Trade Foundation in improving the conditions of farmers and communities in the developing countries and supports the principles promoted by Fair Trade and will work to become a Fair Trade Borough. In doing so we will work with the Council's suppliers, contractors and within the community to raise awareness and encourage the promotion and provision of Fair Trade products."
April 2005: a local group was formed, with the support of the Council
Sept 2008: Redbridge achieves Fairtrade Borough accreditation
Thank you to everyone who supported our bid to become a Fairtrade Borough. The group continues to campaign in the area, meeting every 6 weeks or so and organising events and activities to raise awareness of Fairtrade to schools, businesses and residents.
We always welcome new members, so sign up to receive email updates and news of events, local activities and meetings.
